Finding a suitable daytime babysitter can be a significant challenge for many families, often hindering access to essential health care services. To help families navigate the demands of parenthood and prioritize their health, Peak Vista has established convenient Well-Child Waiting Areas at no cost to our patients.

Peak Vista launched its first Well-Child center in October 1989. This initial location included Family Health, Women’s Health, a Pharmacy, a Lab, a Well Child Waiting Area, and Administration. While not the first Community Health Center to offer a Well-Child area, Peak Vista was among the early pioneers in this initiative.

The Well-Child Waiting Areas are designed to provide a solution for families facing childcare challenges when attending medical appointments. This service is available to all Peak Vista patients free of charge, allowing parents to attend their clinical appointments with peace of mind. Today, these areas are conveniently located at three of our most visited sites: Academy, Union, and International Cir.

To ensure the safety of the children, all Well-Child Attendants undergo fingerprinting and background checks. They also possess CPR and first aid certifications, providing additional reassurance to parents. During their time in the care of our trained and attentive team, children engage in educational activities and play with toys, books, and other interactive learning resources.

This service caters to families with children aged 6 months to 12 years. To utilize the Well-Child Waiting Areas, parents must verify their active clinical appointments. It is important to note that Well-Child Attendants do not change diapers or feed children. Additionally, parents and legal guardians are responsible for checking their children in and out, and they are required to remain on the premises during the appointment.

The service is available for a duration of 2-3 hours, depending on the length of the clinical appointment. The ratio of staff members to children is maintained at 1 staff member for every 10 children, or 2 staff members for up to 15 children. The centers operate Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. However, they may occasionally close for the lunch hour between 12 pm and 1:30 pm, depending on staffing availability.

We are committed to providing a safe, convenient, and pleasant experience for all our patients. To learn more about our Well-Child Waiting Areas, please visit us online.
