National Health Center Week (NHCW), August 4 – 10, is an annual event that “celebrate[s] and increase[s] awareness of America’s 1,400 Community Health Centers (CHCs). National Health Center Week is an opportunity to highlight the commitment and passion of Community Health Center staff, board members, and supporters who make it possible to provide quality, comprehensive health care services to more than 31.5 million patients across nearly 15,000 communities annually.” (NACHC)
FOCUS DAY | Stakeholder Appreciation Day
The CHC program is nationally recognized and federally funded, receiving bipartisan support for more than 50 years. Building support for CHCs is important at all levels of government, though, including state and local governments. Today is the day that we recognize and celebrate the legislative advocates of the CHC movement, as well as the community partners who support our mission to provide exceptional health to people facing access barriers through clinical programs and education.

HOW WE PARTICIPATE | Legislator Post Card Delivery
We’ve asked our staff and patients to fill out post cards share why CHCs are important to them and thank legislators for their continued support of the CHC program. After NHCW ends, members of the Peak Vista team will be hard at work, categorizing the postcards by zip code and delivering them to the correct legislator/government official.
CHCs like Peak Vista depend on the support from our legislators to continue our mission. Sharing the real-life stories of people affected by CHCs keeps us on the forefront of their minds and can lead to legislation and funding which may help CHCs.
You can help CHCs with just a click of a button. Check out the Health Center Advocacy Network’s “Take Action!” webpage(opens in a new tab) for ways to advocate for CHCs, including joining a “Retweet of the Week” group, contacting your members of Congress, and sharing your story.
